Richard Blackburn Bio

Richard first started Martial Arts in 1994 at the age of 16, training in traditional Shotokan Karate. In 1996 he trained in Shukokai Karate, gaining the Junior Grade National Champion title in Kata (Traditional Form) under Shihan Ken Gee, and then in 2007 he achieved 2nd Dan in Wado Ryu Sports Karate and Kickboxing, winning numerous Sparring and Kata competitions along the way. He also entered a national WTF National Championships in Glasgow in 2007, taking 2nd place in the final.

In 2006 Richard joined Chris Jones’ Martial Arts Fitness centre originally to train in the XMA syllabus offered by the school, and after a year began teaching alongside Chris and the other Instructors. Richard brings the traditional Japanese Martial Arts element to the school. He has also appeared in several UK independent films as a stunt fighter/performer.
